One portrait, two ways of looking.
Created by SARO in 2024 in the heart of Val d’Arly, this mosaic mural brings together pop culture, urban art and classical references. Its imagery moves between futurism and tradition, extending the artist’s distinctive graphic universe.
Made from 400 photoceramic tiles, the mosaic forms a striking portrait: a female figure adorned with jewellery and reflective glasses, at once futuristic and tribal. Its many vignettes draw on comics, classical art, consumer symbols, graffiti, cartoons and internet culture.
The mural offers two ways of looking. From a distance, the complete portrait appears as a mysterious, almost divine icon. Up close, it becomes an explosion of details that intrigue, amuse and question. Each image tells a story, evokes a memory or invites reflection.
Through this work, SARO explores our relationship with images and identity in a world saturated with symbols and information. Val d’Arly becomes the setting for an unexpected dialogue between mountain culture and global urban art, where hypermodernity meets local tradition.
